Draft Resolution

 

 

WHEREAS      the Provost has requested that a Council of Deans, made up of the deans of the seven colleges at the University of Delaware, review all newly proposed programs, and

 

WHEREAS      the University Senate Committee on Graduate, Undergraduate Studies, Coordinating Committee on Education and the Executive Committee support this idea as they would value their input on resource issues for new programs and degrees, and

 

WHEREAS      the Council’s input would be advisory only, and could not veto any academic proposal, and

 

WHEREAS      the Council’s recommendations would be attached to the University Faculty Senate Approval Form, but would not replace the currently required individual letters of commitment from deans and chairs of affected programs, and

 

WHEREAS      the Council’s recommendations must reach the respective committees by mid-December in order to meet deadlines set for them by the University Faculty Senate,

 

WHEREAS      the routing for the University Faculty Senate Approval Form for Academic Programs would be unchanged, and that the signature of the dean of the college would signify that this proposal was considered, if deemed necessary, by the Council of Deans, be it therefore

 

RESOLVED    that the Faculty Senate recommends that the Council of Deans, made up of the seven deans of the University of Delaware, review and make recommendations to the University Faculty Senate concerning all newly proposed programs and degrees
