NOTES:

1. A minimum grade of “C–” is required in each MEDT course in the Medical Diagnostics major.

2. MATH XXX represents the mathematics requirement which may be satisfied by MATH 114 College Mathematics and Statistics, MATH 115 Pre-Calculus, MATH 117 Pre-Calculus for Scientists and Engineers, MATH 221 Calculus I, MATH 222 Calculus II, MATH 241 Analytic Geometry and Calculus A, or MATH 242 Analytic Geometry and Calculus B. The level of mathematics completed will be guided by the student’s ability and career goals. For students pursuing medical school admission, two semesters of calculus are recommended.

3. From the list of University breadth courses, students are required to take 3 credits of Creative Arts and Humanities, 3 credits of History and Cultural Change, and 3 credits of Social and Behavioral Sciences from three different subject areas, e.g., ANTH, HIST, etc., earning a minimum of “C–” in each course. Students may not use a cross-listed course from a subject that has already been used or a course in the subject area of their major, e.g., MEDT courses. An additional 9 credits, 3 credits from each University breadth category above, must be taken to meet requirements for the major. An approved course (3 credits) stressing multicultural, ethnic and/or gender-related content is required (may be fulfilled through a course taken to complete University breadth requirements).

4. Based upon career plans, a student will complete either the science sequence of:

·         BISC 276 Human Physiology and PHYS 201/PHYS 202 Introductory Physics I and II  (recommended for medical school applicants)

Or

·         KAAP 309/KAAP 310 Pre-Clinical Anatomy and Physiology I and II (recommended for physician assistant graduate school applicants).

5. An approved “second writing course” must be taken after completion of 45 credits. A minimum grade of “C–” must be earned.

6. CHEM 527 Introductory Biochemistry may be taken in place of CHEM 214 Elementary Biochemistry.

7. A course in Ethics or Medical Ethics is highly suggested.

8. A minimum of 120 credit hours is required for completion of the Medical Diagnostics major.
