Major in Hospitality Industry Studies

Potential for a Double Major

Students can double major in Hospitality Industry Studies and Hotel, Restaurant and Institutional Management. However, it does require an additional 32 credits, which will extend their time at UD by one academic year. The decision to pursue a double major will be based on the interests of each student.

Since the focus of both majors (Current HRIM) and the potential Hospitality Industry Studies is distinctive (Operational [HRIM] Vs Analytical [HIS]), it is theoretically possible for a student to double-major. For example, a HIS Major student who wants to understand Marriott management practices in the lodging sphere and fine dining operations exposure through Vita Nova can potentially seek to double major across the two offerings. The same is possible vice versa.

Note also that students who want operational exposure in restaurants only can seek to do to the Restaurant Management Minor.
