Resolution to establish the Master of Arts in Teaching

Whereas, the School of Education seeks to establish a program to prepare

students for licensure in secondary education, and

Whereas, the focus of the Master of Arts in Teaching is to prepare

secondary school teachers, and

Whereas, this program has national accreditation through the National

Council on Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE), and

Whereas the proposed MAT. program has been approved by the Graduate

Curriculum Committees in the School of Education and the

College of Education and Public Policy, be it therefore

Resolved that the Faculty Senate recommends that this degree be established

in the School of Education.
