1.       Currently, Early Childhood Education (ECE) majors are required to earn a C- or better in all IFST courses. They will now also be required to earn a C- or better in the following courses:

EDUC 210 Beginning Literacy Instruction

EDUC 230 Introduction to Exceptional Children

MUED 390 Music in Early Childhood.

 

ECE majors are currently required to complete these courses. The HDFS faculty considers them to be major courses as opposed to breadth courses. All other major courses (i.e. IFST courses) have a C- or better requirement.

 

2.       IFST 306 Reading and Writing Birth to Grade 2 is being deactivated and replaced with IFST 406 Supporting Literacy in Early Childhood Education (see course management system). This course number change will effective in the fall of 2009.
