RESOLUTION FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A  PH.D. IN ECONOMIC EDUCATION

 

Whereas,    the University of Delaware seeks to provide quality graduate programs in a variety of disciplines, and

 

Whereas,    the College of Business and Economics offers a successful PhD degree in Economics that provides students with the necessary knowledge to be innovative and well-informed economics professionals and researchers, and

 

Whereas,    the College of Education and Public Policy offers a successful PhD degree in Education that provides students with the necessary knowledge to be innovative and well-informed education professionals and researchers, and

 

Whereas,    there is an increasing need for economists and educators to collaborate to conduct research and inform economic education policy at both a state and national level, and

 

Whereas,    a joint doctoral and masters degree in Economic Education will allow students to simultaneously pursue graduate level education in both economics and education, be it therefore

 

Resolved,   that the Faculty Senate approves provisionally, for seven years, the establishment of a joint PhD program in Economic Education.
