List program changes for curriculum revisions:

Include Art 129 to the list of classes a student may choose from to be accepted into the minor:

Art Minor

Student must take Art 129, Art 130or Art 138 and receive a grade of “B” or better to be admitted to the minor.  The chair must approve the minor application on line before the student can be admitted to the minor.   The minor consists of 18 credits:

  1. Art 129, Art 130 or Art 138 - 3credits (student takes this class before being admitted to minor, must receive a grade of B or better to be admitted). The student may then apply for the minor and enter with the Chairperson’s approval.  These 3 credits are applied to the 18 credit minor.

  1. 12 credits (four classes) on the 200, 300 or 400 level in painting, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics or photography concentrations.  Students may choose from one or more concentrations. Students must follow prerequisites for all courses.  Enrollment is based on class availability. Classes will not be guaranteed in any one area to complete the minor.  For example, if a student completes Photo 280, there is not a guarantee that Photo 380 will be available, instead the student must take a course that is available on the 200 level or take a 300 or 400 level course that he or she has completed the prerequisite for.

    c.   3 credits  ( one class) of any Art History course must be completed successfully.

            Total: 18 credits

List new courses required for the new or revised curriculum:

(Be aware that approval of the curriculum is dependent upon these courses successfully passing through the Course Challenge list. If there are no new courses enter “None”)

none.

Other affected units:

(List other departments affected by this new or revised curriculum.  Attach permission from the affected units.  If no other unit is affected, enter “None”)

none

Rationale:

The Art Department will now be teaching 129 on a regular basis.  Fashion Apparel  has also requested this change as Art 129 is a required course for their students.

Program Requirements:

(Show the new or revised curriculum as it should appear in the Course Catalog.  If this is a revision, be sure to indicate the changes being made to the present curriculum.)
