Colleagues,

The voting membership of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources has recommended, by a vote of:  30 Yes, 7 No, and 5 abstentions, that the Department of Bioresources Engineeering be disbanded according to the principles outlined in the ballot provided on April 18, 2011 (attached).

As noted on the ballot, I will be working directly with the faculty, staff, and students of BREG to address any unforeseen complications that arise from the disbanding of this department.  Our college is firmly committed to strengthening the University’s ability to provide research and outreach relevant to the agricultural and natural resource engineering needs of the University’s constituents.  We will be working with BREG faculty and those in other departments and Cooperative Extension to integrate the engineering expertise of BREG faculty into other academic programs, scientific disciplines and departments; and to place individuals in environments where they are well positioned to be successful and productive in the future.

Thank you and please don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions on this matter.  -Robin
