A Profile Statement by Dr. Cihan Cobanoglu

“What does one hand have?
Clap is what two hands have!”

                                                                                    Turkish Proverb

This Turkish proverb is exactly how I feel about organizational groups such as departmental, college and university committees including the Faculty Senate. During my seven year tenure at the University of Delaware I have seen great ideas born, developed, fine-tuned and subsequent actions taken based on the collective efforts of members of the Faculty Senate.

I am asking to be more actively involved with Faculty Senate and to serve my fellow colleagues. I have enthusiastically served in departmental, college and university committees in every year that I have been with the University. I am currently serving as the Chair of College of Human Services, Education, and Public Policy (CHEP) Council; as a member in the Coordinating Committee on Education; the Diversity and Affirmative Action Committee; the International Studies Committee; and,  as a Senator in the Faculty Senate.  I just love it!  It feels great to make a difference. I do hope that my fellow Senators will give an opportunity to make greater contributions in the Faculty Senate for the next several years and allow me to experience the fullness of clapping from both hands.

Sincerely,

Dr. Cihan Cobanoglu
